Lane restrictions begin for construction of the East London Link Phase 3A West project on Dundas Street

Starting on Monday, March 18, construction begins for Phase 3A West of the East London Link and Municipal Infrastructure Improvements, requiring lane restrictions on Dundas Street between Egerton Street and Burbrook Place.

Crews will begin to mobilize to the area setting up traffic control and other necessary elements, followed by lane restrictions and major construction, which will continue until approximately December 2024.

During this time, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on Dundas Street, and turning movements will be restricted to signalized intersections for safety, to support traffic flow, and facilitate access to properties and businesses within the limits of the construction project.

Work will begin first on the north side of Dundas Street and traffic will use the south side of the road. As construction progresses, work will transition to the south side of Dundas Street and traffic will be flipped to the north side of the road.

While these lane restrictions are in place, access to side streets along Dundas Street in the project area will be affected at times, and drivers are encouraged follow signage and to use alternative routes to reach their destination.

Some LTC stops along these sections of Dundas Street will be impacted during construction. Transit riders are encouraged to visit the LTC website for the most up-to-date information.

Sidewalk access will be maintained on at least one side of the road at all times during this work. Wayfinding signs will be installed around the site to help people walking navigate safely around the construction zone.

Businesses will remain open and accessible during construction.

About the East London Link Phase 3A West

Phase 3A West of the East London Link project will be constructed in stages to facilitate road access, minimize disruption, and complete necessary work as effectively as possible. The first stage begins next week on Dundas Street between Egerton Street and Burbrook Place, and stage 2 is anticipated to begin in the summer on Dundas Street between Burbrook Place and McComick Boulevard, requiring similar restrictions.

The project will include a full road reconstruction to install new curbside bus-only lanes, a new centre-median and new rapid transit stops near 100 Kellogg’s and Eleanor Street, while upgrading and replacing some underground infrastructure and installing new landscaping and urban design improvements.
