May 6 thru 11 -  Important events happening in our community, all free for everyone to attend!


Tuesday, May 7 - Seniors' Safety Lunch

  • connect with representatives from nine different senior service groups, and pick up important resources
  • Receive valuable safety advice from Police, Fire, Emergency Preparedness and the Libro Credit Union (online banking safety)
  • Free pizza, cookies and beverages included
    Location:  Bostwick Community Centre, 501 Southdale Road West
    Time:  11:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday, May 7 - Public Input Session on Community Safety

  • Do you have a great idea to enhance safety in your neighbourhood? Come out and share it with the Community Safety & Crime Prevention Committtee

    Location:  Stoney Creek Library, 920 Sunningdale Road East
    Time:  7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, May 8 - Risk & Reward Safety for Students

  • free, interactive session for students aged 10-15 years of age to raise awareness to Gambling & Gaming habits
  • fun carnival-style mini-games to help students think more critically about personal spending, especially related to online games and youth-targeted marketing
  • activities and important take-home resources
  • free pizza, cookies and beverages included

    Location:  Catholic Central High School, 450 Dundas Street
    Time:  6 - 9 p.m.

Wednesday, May 8 - Youth Safety: Supporting Resiliency in Children & Youth

  • parents and caregivers are invited to attend this session focused on the important topics of depression, self-esteem and resiliency
  • Keynote speaker:  Dr. Colin King, Director, Child & Youth Development Clinic, Western University

Friday, May 10 - Active and Safe Routes to School Awards Ceremony, Travel Safety

  • Honouring elementary school winners of the ASRTS Contest for best posters, videos and logos.

    Location:  Thames Valley District School Board Offices
    Time:  7 - 9 p.m.

Saturday, May 11 - Family Safety Day

  • Interative, fun, family safety activities
  • Bike Safety:  CAN-Bike London Bike Rodeo (book your child to participate at 11:00 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.)
  • Personal Safety: learn about CPR and what to do in an emergency
  • Water Safety:  Sand table and flood risk puzzle
  • Outdoor Safety:  Hug-A-Tree program
  • London Safety Car Seat Clinic (must book appointment in advance)
  • Celebrate community through Indigenous games and dance
  • Displays from community partners and services

    Location:  St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, 1360 Oxford St. W.
    Time:  11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
