Income-Related Transit Program


On December 19, 2016, City Council approved changes to the current subsidized transit program. A new income-related transit program will come into effect on January 1st, 2018, and will offer a $52 monthly bus pass for eligible residents.

You can apply for the new income-related transit program in one of four ways:

1. Apply online for the Income-Related Transit Program

2. Paper applications are available and can be picked up and returned to any of the City of London’s Social Service offices:

  • Social Services-Citi Plaza 355 Wellington Street Suite #248, 2nd Floor South Wing
  • Social Services-Westmount Shopping Centre, 785 Wonderland Rd. S
  • Social Services-London East, 1835 Dundas St.
  • Social Services-Northland Mall, 1275 Highbury Ave.
  • Social Services-South London Community Centre, 1119 Jalna Blvd.

Program Eligibility

The new income-related transit program will come into effect on January 1, 2018. This new program will offer a $52 monthly bus pass for eligible residents. To qualify for this new program, you must meet all of the following criteria: 

  1. You are a resident of London
  2. You are 18+ years of age (this means that seniors with low-income will be eligible to purchase a subsidized transit pass through this program)
  3. Current income is below Low Income Cut Off After-Tax (LICO-AT) – see chart below

*If a resident is in receipt of Ontario Works, they should contact their caseworker. Assistance with transportation costs may be available through Ontario Works.

Purchasing

You will be able to purchase your bus pass beginning December 15th, 2017 for your January 2018 bus pass. Subsidized bus passes can be purchased at the following locations across the city:

  • Canada Aquatic Games Centre, 1045 Wonderland Rd N, London, ON N6G 2Y9
  • Citi Plaza, 355 Wellington Street Suite #248, 2nd Floor South Wing, London, Ontario N6A 3N7
  • City Hall, 300 Dufferin Ave, London, ON N6B 1Z2
  • Kiwanis Seniors’ Community Centre, 78 Riverside Dr, London, ON N6H 1B4
  • Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre, 656 Elizabeth St, London, ON N5Y 6L3
  • North London Optimist Community Centre, 1345 Cheapside St, London, ON N5V 3N9
  • South London Community Pool, 585 Bradley Ave, London, ON N6E 2H8

Please bring government issued ID when purchasing your bus pass.

Cash, credit or debit will be accepted.

Unused Seniors Tickets After December 31, 2017

Beginning January 1, 2018, there are two options for unused seniors tickets:

  1. Unused tickets can be returned to an LTC location for a full refund
  2. Unused tickets can be used on the bus but will need to be accompanied by an additional $0.25 in the farebox.
