On August 23, 2019, the Government of Canada announced a $123-million funding commitment to support 10 transit and transit-supportive projects in London.
This contribution, combined with a previously announced Provincial commitment, is designed to help improve transit and transportation city-wide. With this support, London is moving forward with elements of rapid transit, smarter traffic signals, intersection improvements and enhanced connections for cycling and active transportation.
Many of the projects – which are part of the City’s Transportation Master Plan – are shovel-ready. Once financial agreements are finalized with the Provincial and Federal governments, construction could begin on some of the projects as early as 2020.
