East London Master Plan

East Lions Park Master Plan

With the addition of the new Community Centre, the City of London has embarked on a Master Plan for East Lions Park, with the goal of integrating the new building within the park and forming a connected experience, while preserving as much of the park space as possible. This is also a great opportunity to enhance the park and make it a true social hub for the community.

In 2018, the detailed design of the park will be initiated as construction of the community center continues.

The proposed Master Plan for East Lions Park is a mix of an active and a passive park, and includes:

  • A new layout that complements the future Community Centre building
  • A new playground
  • A full size soccer field
  • A tennis court, a pickleball court, and a basketball court that can turn into an ice rink
  • A loop pathway with seating areas
  • More trees and a dry pond garden

Community Consultations

A Park Master Plan Open House took place on February 9th, 2017.  About 60 people attended the meeting to see the proposed plans for the park and to provide feedback to City staff.  You can view those plans here.

A Park Survey was held in the summer of 2016 and over 100 people participated. The results informed the design process for the Park Master Plan.

Prior community consultations also happened along with the Community Centre Open Houses held on June 22 and March 3, 2016, where staff collected comments and suggestions from the public regarding the plans for the park.

Anticipated Schedule

  • Demolition of existing building, outdoor pool, wading pool, tennis courts and the removal of existing playground – 2017
  • Community Centre construction - 2017 to Fall 2019
  • New building and playground to be open – Fall 2019
