Overnight Parking Restrictions Return after Labour Day Weekend.
Starting Tuesday, September 4, overnight parking will be prohibited on all streets between 3am-5am. Drivers will need to register their vehicles for overnight parking using the overnight parking pass system.
Passes are available between Labour Day and Victoria Day weekend, weather permitting for personal vehicle(s).
A maximum of 15 free passes may be issued per vehicle license plate, valid on most city streets. Vehicles parked on City streets without a valid overnight parking pass may be liable to a parking fine.
When applying for your pass before midnight please ensure you select the next calendar day as your pass will start at midnight
Example 1: if you apply for your pass on Tuesday, September 4 at 11:00pm please select your pass for September 5 to allow you to park from 3:00am to 5:00am.
Example 2: if you apply between midnight and 5:00am please select the current day.
Overnight parking is prohibited on certain streets, see schedule 2, Schedule 2. Overnight passes are not valid where parking is prohibited year round. Always check on-street parking signs.
Passes are not eligible for commercial, oversized, inoperable or unplated vehicles, boats or trailers and are exclusively for personal vehicles.
Between November 1 - April 15 passes will not be issued more than 48 hours in advance due to the possibility of inclement weather. At such times of a snow event is forecast to allow snow plows access to City streets. A message will be posted on the overnight parking registry when a snow event is in effect, please check prior to parking your vehicle on the street if you have previously applied for an overnight pass. Parking enforcement will occur during a snow event.
All other parking restrictions remain in effect, including parking between the sidewalk and the roadway, prohibited parking and no stopping areas, fire routes and the requirement to remove all vehicles from the street during snow clearing operations.
The by-law also stipulates that no vehicles will be permitted to park on City streets for longer than 12 hours at a time. This does not apply to vehicles that have a valid overnight parking pass.
Passes do not need to be printed or displayed in the vehicle.
