Overnight Parking Restrictions Return Next Week

Important changes are coming to overnight parking after Labour Day weekend.

Starting Monday, September 4, drivers will need to register their vehicles for overnight parking using the overnight parking pass system.

A maximum of 15 free passes may be issued per vehicle license plate, valid on most City streets. Passes can be obtained online through the City’s website, by phone at 519-661-4537 or in person at the Parking Services Office, 824 Dundas Street. Passes for multiple days and multiple license plates may be obtained with one submission.

Until November 1, passes may be obtained in advance or day of as required. Between November 1  and April 15 passes will not be issued more than 48 hours in advance to help mitigate weather concerns. Over the winter months, overnight parking may be restricted to allow snow clearing operations. At such times when passes are revoked, pass holders will be notified via email provided a valid email was included with the pass request.

“Drivers are reminded that all other parking restrictions remain in effect, including prohibited parking and stopping areas, fire routes and the requirement to remove all vehicles from the street during snow clearing operations,” says Annette Drost, Manager, Municipal Law Enforcement Services.
Overnight parking cannot occur in locations where parking is otherwise prohibited or restricted, such as in front of fire hydrants, on boulevards or front lawns or on streets that are identified as exempt from on-street parking. A complete list of those streets is available online.

Overnight parking passes required until Victoria Day, at which time the overnight parking restriction is lifted.
