To assist Londoners with fall leaf removal, two adjustments are being made to the City’s regular services.
First, the Oxford Street EnviroDepot and Clarke Road South EnviroDepot will stay open on ‘summer hours’ until December 8, 2019. Londoners will have the opportunity to drop off leaves during open hours for 7 additional days (see below for schedule).
Second, an additional yard waste collection will be provided starting December 9 in Zone A (Bryon, Oakridge, Westmount areas) and Zone B (Cherryhill, Masonville, Stoneybrook Acres, Whitehills, Sherwood Forest areas). Bagged leaves and yard waste need to be at the curb in these zones by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9.
All other curbside services are being followed as scheduled. Leaf pickup is occurring in Zone C (north central) and Zone D (north east) this week and will begin in Zones E (south east) and Zone F (south central) on Monday, December 2.
“Each year Londoners bag or deliver between 7,500 and 8,500 tonnes of leaves,” says Jay Stanford, Director of Environment, Fleet and Solid Waste at the City of London. “The early snow and cold temperatures in November disrupted many Londoners from mulching leaves, bagging them for curbside collection, or delivering them to the City’s EnviroDepots. We believe the additional services will be well received by those completing their final yard cleanup.”
Annually the City’s EnviroDepots move to ‘winter hours’ starting in December.
Starting Monday, December 2, Oxford Street EnviroDepot and Clarke Road EnviroDepot will each be open for extended hours as listed below to help manage the late season fall leaves:
Monday, December 2 - noon to 5 pm
Tuesday, December 3 - noon to 5 pm
Wednesday, December 4 - noon to 5 pm – regular winter hours
Thursday, December 5 - noon to 5 pm
Friday, December 6 - noon to 5 pm
Saturday, December 7 - 8 am to 5 pm – regular winter hours
Sunday, December 8 - 11 am to 5 pm
