The City of London recieves $22.3 million from the first of two installments of the Government of Canada’s Gas Tax Fund.
As a permanent source of funding, the federal Gas Tax Fund is designed to support local infrastructure priorities in communities across Canada. In 2017, the City of London will focus its investment on:
- Fueling economic growth through the rehabilitation of Veterans Memorial Parkway (VMP).
- Supporting wastewater infrastructure upgrades on Dundas St.
- Improving connectivity, road safety and efficiency through the installation of new sidewalks and pedestrian infrastructure, bike lanes and bike lane-connections on Dundas St. and Byron Baseline.
Each of these three infrastructure renewal projects support the City of London’s strategic focus of building a sustainable city and in strengthening the community. While new improved roadways embrace convenient and connected mobility choices in transportation, the execution of robust infrastructure renewal projects make London a healthier, safer and more accessible city positioned for economic growth and innovation in the future.
