Sister Delores Brisson
Sister Delores Brisson moved to London in 1980. For over 30 years, from 1981 to 2013, Sister Delores provided a home for the homeless, a family for those whose families had turned them away, and new opportunities for the cities most vulnerable. In 1981, she lobbied City Hall for the use of 2 properties in London that were slated for demolition. She established a home for men and for women (St. Francis House and St. Clare House). Many of her guests came from all walks of time. For Sister Delores your past didn’t matter, only your future. Many of her guests went on to lead successful lives. She put many efforts and contributions to the London community through providing accessible housing for all members of the community. She has been an advocate for homelessness and poverty prevention.
For an inspired life that showed commitment to the community, Sister Delores Brisson has been named to the Mayor’s New Year’s Honour List 2018 in the category of Housing.
