STRIKING COMMITTEE

City Council is seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for appointment to the Striking Committee whose mandate is to make recommendations to the Strategic Priorities and Policy Committee on appointments to London’s Advisory Committees for the 2019-2023 term.

Persons interested in being considered for this appointment are asked to obtain, complete and return an application form that is available on the City’s website at www.london.ca/committeeapplication or from the City Clerk’s Office, 3rd Floor, City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue; or by telephoning 519-661-2489 ext. 4599 by Friday, November 9, 2018 at 4:30 p.m.  Striking Committee Members are restricted from applying to the City’s Advisory Committees whose appointments are under consideration, as well as from applying to the City’s Agencies, Boards and Commissions. 


CITY COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS
CIVIC BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES

In December 2018, the Strategic Priorities and Policy Committee will be addressing the matter of citizen appointments to represent the Municipal Council on various civic bodies for a term beginning in December 2018 and ending no later than November 30, 2022.

Residents of the City of London who are at least 18 years of age and interested in being considered for an appointment to any of the bodies listed below, are asked to obtain, complete and return by no later than Monday, November 19, 2018 at 4:30 p.m., an application form that is available on the City’s website at www.london.ca/committeeapplication; from the City Clerk's Office, 3rd floor, City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue; or by telephoning 519-661-2489 ext. 4599.

  • one (1) of whom shall have a background in and experience with public history or education;
  • one (1) of whom shall have a background in and experience with marketing and promotion;
  • four (4) of whom shall have experience with one or more of the following areas:

- a distinct interest and/or appreciation of history and heritage

            - community relations and business partnerships

            - heritage property and museum operations

            - administrative experience with municipal agencies, boards or commissions

Kettle Creek Conservation Authority

The person appointed to the Authority must be a resident in a participating municipality in which the Authority has jurisdiction.  As the Conservation Authorities Act has not yet been amended to reflect a 4 year term, appointments to these bodies will initially be for a 3 year term

London & Middlesex Housing Corporation (LMHC)

LMHC is seeking Board Member(s) with experience in/knowledge of facility building systems, facility asset management industry practices, building construction design and construction industry practices and standards including operating a facility lifecycle / asset management program and/or knowledge and experience associated with growing a dynamic and sustainable business and organization operating in the public domain with demonstrated solid skills pertaining to labour relations, Human Resources, real estate transactions, corporate-commercial matters and/or commercial litigation

London Police Services Board

Any person, except a judge, a justice of the peace, a police officer or a person who practices criminal law as a defence counsel, may be appointed as a Member of the Board.  The person appointed to the London Police Services Board by the Council must not be a member of the Council or an employee of the Municipality

London Public Library Board

The persons appointed to the Library Board must be:

  • Canadian citizen
  • Not employed by the Library Board or the Municipality

Plumbers' & Drain Layers' Examining Board

The members of the Plumbers' and Drain Layers' Examining Board must be either licensed plumbing contractors or master plumbers of not less than 10 years experience or qualified persons teaching the trade or calling of a plumber in a trade school of the Province of Ontario or in a technical school under the jurisdiction of a Board of Education in an Ontario municipality having a population of not less than 100,000
