Read-O-Graph Mobile Sign Process and Application

A licence is required for anyone to rent or lease mobile signs within the City of London.

All documentation and information for a read-o-graph mobile sign permit application and sticker can be obtained below or by visiting the 7th floor of City Hall during regular business hours. It is recommended that Subsection 7.3 - Regulations for Temporary First Party Read-O-Graph Mobile Signs of the Sign By-law 2017 and the Mobile Sign Business Licensing By-law are reviewed prior to applying for a permit.

  • Applying for a Read-O-Graph Mobile Sign Sticker
    1. Complete a permit application form (including fees)
    2. A Zoning Officer will review the application to confirm compliance with the Sign By-law 2017 (applies to individuals).
    3. Although it is not required by the City, it is strongly recommended that authorization from the property owner is obtained prior to submission (applies to individuals).

    1. Who should apply for a permit?
      • The property owner, tenant, or authorized agent can apply for a permit. Although it is not required, it is strongly recommended that authorization is obtained from the property owner prior to submission. It is the responsibility of both tenant(s) and property owner(s) to ensure signs are comnpliant with the By-law.
      • Before signing a lease, as a tenant, you should ensure that the sign you want can be displayed where you want it.
    2. How many Read-O-Graph Mobile Signs are permitted on a property?
      • One read-o-graph sign is permitted on most properties.
      • Additional signs are permitted at 1 sign per 45 metres of street frontage.
      • It is recommended you contact the Zoning Office at 519-930-3510 to verify the number of existing and permitted read-o-graph signs on a property.
