How to Appeal


Step 1: How to request an internal review

Your request must be made in writing and sent to the Ontario Works - London Office.

Please complete the Internal Review Form (available on the right side of this page) or provide a letter indicating your request for an Internal Review and the reasoning for your request. 

Your written request should include:

 

  • A statement that you would like the original decision reviewed
  • The reason you disagree with the decision
  • Your name, date of birth, and member identification number
  • Your signature
     

Written request MUST arrive at the London Office within 10 days from the date you received the original decision notice.
 

A review will take place within 30 days of receiving your request for review.

You will receive a letter informing you of the Internal Review Decision.

 

If the internal review is not completed within the required 30 days, you may appeal the decision directly to the Social Benefits Tribunal.

 

Step 2: Appealing to the Social Benefits Tribunal

 

If you still disagree with the internal review decision, the next step is to file an appeal with the Social Benefits Tribunal. Forms are available at the Ontario Works - London Office, or from the Social Benefits Tribunal website.

 

Your completed Appeal Form must arrive at the Social Benefits Tribunal office within
30 days from the date you receive your internal review decision letter.

 

If you need an interpreter at your hearing, you must complete Section 3 of the Appeal form.

If you need financial help during this process, complete Section 4.
