London CAReS is a highly collaborative community-based Housing First service aimed at improving the health and housing outcomes of individuals experiencing homelessness.
London CAReS is supported by the City of London through the London Homeless Prevention System which is aimed at the reduction and prevention of homelessness through a Housing First approach.
The collaborative partnership between Addiction Services of Thames Valley, Regional HIV/AIDS Connection and Unity Project for the Relief of Homelessness in London are funded to provide London CAReS service delivery.
London CAReS Street Outreach services operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week under the Pillars of: Harm Reduction; Prevention; Treatment; Enforcement; and, Community Collaboration.
Focusing on London's core areas (Downtown, Old East Village, SOHO), Street Outreach Workers engage with individuals experiencing homelessness and support them to move off the street and into a home.
The London CAReS Mobile Unit assists with immediate diversion traditionally requiring emergency services, including police.
Housing Stability Program
London CAReS Housing Stability Workers provide intensive case management support to individuals that have experienced persistent homelessness who are now housed.
The program's goal is to support individuals in their housing stability by assisting with the transition into a new home, neighbourhood and community.
London CAReS Housing Selection Workers identify private-market landlords and property groups interested in making apartments available to individuals experiencing homelessness.
By participating in this program, landlords are supported by the Housing Selection Workers to ensure 24/7 response is available to the tenant, landlord and extended community.
London CAReS maintains stationary needle bins in identified areas to collect discarded syringes and assists with overall syringe recovery.
