An Overview of The Teaching Toolkit

The City of London has partnered with the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) to develop curriculum related lessons using the City of London (operations, environment, and challenges) as a living case study.

Lessons are continuously being developed for kindergarten to grade 12 and include activities (in and outside the classroom) as well as ideas for local field trips when available. Currently, the majority of lessons are targeted at high school level courses.

If you are an elementary school teacher interested in lessons or you are looking for information that you do not see here, please contact us and we will be happy to help!

The resources are organized based on topics. We have provided curriculum connections for the original grade/subject. Many lessons can be used for a multitude of topics and grades.

  • Where do I get the resources that are mentioned in the lessons?

TVDSB has most resources for the toolkit available through Media Services. They can be provided to you through internal mail. Other resources are made available through the City of London. Lessons should indicate where and how to get the specific resources that are required for that lesson.

  • I have an idea for a lesson, who do I contact to discuss it?

We are always looking for interested teachers to work with us to develop new dynamic inquiry based lessons for London students. Email us at water@london.ca.

  • I am not a teacher, but would like to utilize these resources for another purpose, can I still access it?

Of course! Our intention is that teachers, community groups and anyone else interested in learning about their City has access to these resources to use and share them.
