Septic Systems

A number of City of London residents are connected to a private septic system rather than to a City sanitary sewer.  The property owner is responsible for maintaining their own septic system.  The Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change has information regarding septic systems including new or replacement septic systems, signs that your system may be failing, maintenance, and safe operation of your septic system.

Proper care of your septic system will reduce the risk of a sewage back-up into your home.

If you are considering switching from a septic system and connecting into the City of London's sanitary sewer system, contact Wastewater and Drainage Engineering 519-661-2500 Ext. 5854 to see if your property can be serviced by the City.
