Program Planning

Programs are planned per the input and suggestions of the satellite members.  If you have a program idea, please drop by the Greeter's Desk at the satellite to chat with City of London staff.  If you have a talent or hobby (such as knitting, quilting, gardening, scrapbooking, dance, etc.) that you would like to volunteer to teach, please also let us know!  We would like to be able to switch up programs regularly to suit everyone's interests and needs.  We aim to provide programs in all the 7 Dimensions of Wellness (physical, spiritual, emotional, occupational, social, environmental, and intellectual).

We’re Ensuring a Supportive Environment for Everyone: The Seniors’ Satellite staff are newly certified in ‘dementia friendliness’ through the Alzheimer Society London Middlesex.  This certification course provides staff with additional knowledge and compassion to support those with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia.  Each of our Greeters/front desk staff at each satellite location, and those instructors with a star (*) next to their program name, have successfully completed the training.  Our programs remain welcoming, friendly, and accessible for all.  Any caregiver/support person may attend the satellites free of charge (with the expectation that the caregiver will provide support to the member at all times).

Also, the majority of the Seniors' Satellite staff are newly certified in 'Sensitivity Awareness Training for persons with physical disabilities' through the March of Dimes.  This includes physical disabilities, hearing or sight impairments and more. Instructors with a plus sign (+) next to their class name have been certified to date.

Program Costs

Programs are included in membership fee unless otherwise noted. If a class requires having professional, certified and qualified instructors, members will pay $2 per class.  Members can purchase a 'Fitness Card' from the Greeter's Desk ($20 for 10 classes, no expiry), or pay $2 each class.
