River Road Golf Course in 2017
Thank you to everyone who enjoyed our River Road Golf Course again this year. The City of London Golf Course system has enjoyed another successful year in 2017 despite some early season weather issues and some irrigation problems at all of our properties. Mother nature and some innovative maintenance allowed our courses to look and play as good as they ever have.
As some of you may be aware, there was a chemical spill from a neighbouring property at River Road that caused the contamination of our irrigation pond. Quick action by our staff caught the spill at its early stages and no contaminated water was used on the course itself. The Ministry of the Environment and the City of London Spills team contained the contamination safely and effectively with no issues for golfers or staff. You possibly noticed that we used manual methods of watering for most of the season. Despite this issue, the condition of the course was terrific, as staff was able to fight through the issue and maintain a course that continued to provide golfers with an amazing golf experience. We continue to work with the Ministry and our internal spills team to remedy the situation for the 2018 golf season.
We look forward to another great golf season in 2018 with River Road, Fanshawe and Thames continuing to provide the best municipal golf experience in the country.
Study Finds Londoners Happy with Municipal Courses
The City of London recently commissioned an IPSOS REID survey to see how Londoners felt about the city they live in and the service it provides.
As part of the survey Londoners were asked if they were satisfied with their experiences of the City of London Golf Courses. Of those surveyed 49 percent said they had no experience with the courses and therefore did not answer.
We are happy to report that 96 percent of those who responded to the question said they were either somewhat or very satisfied with the golf course system. Just 4 percent of respondents said they were not satisfied.
We would like to thank everyone involved with making London's golf courses some of the best in the area and we look forward to continued success in the future.
