Overnight Parking Restriction Lifts Victoria Day Weekend
The ban prohibiting overnight parking on many City streets eases May 19, 2018 except for those streets that are signed probhibiting parking between 3am - 5am. The eased restriction does not apply to commercial motor vehicles, mobile homes or trailers.
Between Labour Day and Victoria Day weekend, an overnight parking pass is required for on street parking. If you require overnight parking, register your vehicle using the overnight parking pass system.
Passes are available between Labour Day and Victoria Day weekend, weather permitting for personal vehicle(s).
A maximum of 15 free passes may be issued per vehicle license plate, valid on most city streets. Vehicles parked on City streets without a valid overnight parking pass may be liable to a parking fine.
When applying for your pass before midnight please ensure you select the next calendar day as your pass will start at midnight
Example 1: if you apply for your pass on Monday, September 4 at 11:00pm please select your pass for September 5 to allow you to park from 3:00am to 5:00am.
Example 2: if you apply between midnight and 5:00am please select the current day.
Overnight parking is prohibited on certain streets, see schedule 2. Always check on-street parking signs.
Passes are not eligible for commercial, oversized, inoperable or unplated vehicles, boats or trailers and are exclusively for personal vehicles. Check for signage prohibiting parking.
Between November 1 - April 15 passes will not be issued more than 48 hours in advance due to the possibility of inclement weather. At such times of a snow event is forecast to allow snow plows access to City streets. A message will be posted on the overnight parking registry when a snow event is in effect, please check prior to parking your vehicle on the street if you have previously applied for an overnight pass. Parking enforcement will occur during a snow event.
All other parking restrictions remain in effect, including parking between the sidewalk and the roadway, prohibited parking and no stopping areas, fire routes and the requirement to remove all vehicles from the street during snow clearing operations.
The by-law also stipulates that no vehicles will be permitted to park on City streets for longer than 12 hours at a time. This does not apply to vehicles that have a valid overnight parking pass.

Passes do not need to be printed or displayed in the vehicle.
