Vehicles that are operated by or carry a person with physical disabilities are the only ones permitted to occupy an accessible parking stall. All such vehicles must display an original and current Accessible Parking Permit (APP) issued by ServiceOntario. This is the only type of permit that is acceptable. The entire permit must be clearly visible through the windshield of the vehicle.
Parking privileges available to persons with disabilities vary from each municipality. While all municipalities recognize permits at designated accessible parking spaces, practices differ. For example, the City of London does not permit parking in prohibited areas such as "No Parking" or "No Stopping" zones.
It is the responsibility of every driver with physical disabilities, or transporting a passenger with physical disabilities, to be aware of the by-laws of each municipality with regard to the use of these permits and park in the appropriate legal parking areas at all times.
Please visit or phone ServiceOntario for more information on obtaining an APP.
The City of London is distributing official accessible parking signs with guidelines to businesses and residencial properties for the Accessibility Signage and Awareness Campaign. Please see PDF below for more information.
