Developing New Affordable Housing: HDC London

Effective 2016, the creation and support of new affordable housing will be done through the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

 

Municipal Council Appointments to the Board of Directors of the Housing Development Corporation, London (HDC)

Municipal Council is seeking applications from qualified individuals wishing to be considered for appointment to serve on the Board of Directors of the Housing Development Corporation, London (HDC).

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, a resident of London or Middlesex County, meet the requirements of the Ontario Business Corporations Act and have consented to becoming a Member. This appointment is for the period of three years from 2016 to 2019, with eligibility for reappointment for further terms which will allow for staggering of board members through future appointments.

Prior to submitting an application, interested parties are asked to review the desired skills and competencies available online at:  http://www.london.ca/HDC.  Persons interested in being considered for appointment are asked to obtain, complete and return an application form that is available on the City’s website at www.london.ca/committeeapplication or from the City Clerk’s Office, 3rd Floor, City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue; or by phoning 519-661-2500 ext. 4599.

Formal deadlines for board applications will be advertised by the City Clerk.

Approval of the Housing Development Corporation, London (HDC)

On August 27th, the Strategic Priorities and Policy Committee (SPPC) hosted a public participation meeting regarding the HDC proposal.  Following this, a resolution was tabled to create the HDC.  On September 3, 2014, Municipal Council approved the recommendation of the SPPC and directed the creation of the Housing Development Corporation, London (HDC).

Civic Administration is working on the required activities to incorporate and establish the HDC as a business corporation of the City.
