The City of London has retained Ecosystems Recovery Inc. to undertake a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to determine a preferred stormwater management approach for approximately 96 hectares of future development lands. The study will consider practical stormwater mitigation measures for the benefit of the natural environment, the downstream Thames River and area residents. A Public Information Centre will likely be scheduled for Autumn 2019 to discuss field work studies and present the recommended option for comment. In addition, the consultant will meet with stakeholders in the area.
The 2016 Kilally South EA Addendum supported the construction of the Kilally South, West Basin SWM facility. The 2016 EA Addendum identified the need for a the Kilally South, East Basin EA to evaluate appropriate stormwater servicing for the remaining 96 hectares of developable land. The proposed n EA will evaluate potential SWM control options including traditional end-of-pipe SWM facilities as well as Low Impact Development controls and the City’s Permanent Private System policy. The EA will develop alternatives based on an assessment of natural heritage, archeological, geotechnical and hydrogeological site conditions. This will ensure a holistic stormwater management approach is recommended to service approximately 96 hectares of future neighbourhood development area.
