The City of London has undertaken a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study for improvements to the Highbury Avenue/Hamilton Road intersection. The City’s 2030 Smart Moves Transportation Master Plan identified several improvements to the intersection, including additional through and turning lanes on Highbury Avenue, improvements to the median on Hamilton Road and pedestrian and cyclist friendly design features. A preferred design of the improvements has been developed as part of this Class EA study.
The study has evaluated all the options with respect to the road cross sections. Land uses, access opportunities and the property impacts which all factored into the evaluation of the options. The preferred design concept is both functional and attractive in its appearance.
Public input was welcome throughout the study. Two Public Information Centres were held in 2015 to present the preferred alternative.
