East Park Pumping Station

The City of London (City) has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to identify and provide additional capacity at the East Park Pumping Station.

The City has completed this study as a Schedule ‘B’ project in accordance with the Municipal Class EA (2000, as amended) under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Notice of the Study Commencement and the Public Information Centre were distributed to the public, interested parties and regulatory agencies. As part of the Class EA process a consultation program was undertaken to seek input on the project from directly affected residents, First Nations Communities, the general public, and review agencies.

A Public Information Centre was held on October 3, 2016 to solicit input on the project. The preferred alternative consists of expanding the East Park Pumping Station at the existing site. A Project File has been prepared to document the planning and decision-making processes followed.

By this Notice, the Project File is being placed on public record for a 30-day review period in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class EA process. The Project File is available for review here and at the following location from Thursday November 17, 2016 to Monday December 19, 2016 (Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m.): City of London, 300 Dufferin Avenue, 8th Floor Reception, London, ON.

During this public review period, if concerns regarding the project cannot be resolved in discussion with the City of London, a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change make an order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act, which addresses individual environmental assessments. Requests for a Part II Order must be received by the Minister at the address below no later than December 19, 2016:

The Honourable Glen Murray

Minister of the Environment and Climate Change

This Notice first issued November 17, 2016

The East Park Sewage Pumping Station in the City of London requires additional capacity to meet the future wastewater servicing needs of the area serviced by it. Pursuant to that, the City has initiated a study to identify and evaluate alternative solutions, and to select the preferred solution.
This project is being carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act and it is being planned under Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA). The project scope involves an evaluation of alternatives, selection of preferred alternative and evaluation of environmental impacts and their mitigation measures.
Public and agency consultation is a key element of the Class EA process, and input is being sought for this study. We are interested in receiving your comments on the study. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record. If you would like any additional information, or wish to be included on the mailing list for this project, please contact one of the members of the Project Team.
