Watson Street Storm Outlet

The City of London initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study for the replacement of the Watson Street storm sewer outlet. The study considered the entire Watson Park drainage area and reviewed storm sewer capacity, potential for intensification and infill and areas currently not properly serviced or where flooding has occurred.

The Preferred Alternative for this project includes construction of a new trunk storm sewer with low impact development (LID) measures on Wellington Road South and upgrades to the Watson Street storm sewer and outlet.

The Municipal Class EA process provides opportunity throughout to re-evaluate the project and determine if the appropriate scope and Class EA Schedule are being followed. The Watson Street Storm Outlet Class EA followed the process for Schedule B projects, completing Phases 1 and 2 as outlined in the MCEA document, ensuring the appropriate level of analysis, evaluation and consultation was undertaken.

The components of the preferred servicing strategy are all considered Schedule A or A+ projects (already approved). As a result, the activities of the Class EA process are considered complete.
