The City of London has retained AECOM Consulting Ltd., to undertake a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for the Dingman Drive widening from east of Wellington Road to Hwy 401 and area intersections. This project is being carried out under the planning and design process for a Schedule ‘C’ project as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association’s Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007 and 2011). The Dingman Drive project is being considered as a priority project in the 2019 Draft Transportation Development Charges Background Study (DCBS) in response to the potential London Gateway development located at the southwest corner of Wellington Road and Highway 401. Due to the anticipated large traffic volume generated by the London Gateway development, the study will evaluate the widening of Dingman Drive from 150m east of Wellington Road to just east of Highway 401 overpass from two (2) through lanes to four (4) through lanes.
The Dingman Drive EA will:
• Assess / confirm the need and justification for widening of Dingman Drive corridor;
• Identify and evaluate a range of alternative solutions to accommodate growing traffic volumes along this corridor, including Exeter Road/Wellington Road and Dingman Drive/White Oak Road intersection improvements; the impacts upon the natural, social, cultural and economic environments, and;
• Review and develop a design to be cycling and pedestrian supportive and be consistent with the vision and policies of the London Complete Street Design Manual.
