In 2014, the City completed the Southwest Area Sanitary Servicing Master Plan (SASS), which evaluated alternatives to address future sanitary servicing needs for the Lambeth, North Lambeth, North Talbot, Bostwick West, and Crestwood Neighbourhoods. SASS recommended sanitary sewers along existing and future road networks to the Wonderland Pumping Station; sanitary sewers along Colonel Talbot Road to a new pumping station in the vicinity of Diane Crescent with a new forcemain to Boler Road; and the decommissioning of three temporary pumping stations currently servicing existing developments (Crestwood, Westfield, and Talbot Village Pumping Stations).
As a result, the City of London (City) retained Stantec Consulting Ltd. to undertake a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the implementation of a new pumping station and forcemain within the vicinity of Colonel Talbot Road, in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (MEA, 2000 as amended in 2007, 2011, and 2015). The Class EA was completed October 31, 2016.
To inform the public about the anticipated impacts of construction of the Colonel Talbot PS and associated forcemains and sewers, a Public Update Meeting (PUM) was held on Tuesday December 5, 2017 at Byron Southwood Public School, 1379 Lola Street, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
