The City of London is hosting a Public Information Centre (PIC), over two nights on October 18 and 19 to gather feedback on the alternatives for the Springbank Dam as part of the One River Environmental Assessment.
Londoners will have an opportunity to learn about the Environmental Assessment process, weigh-in on the alternatives for the dam, speak with the project team, and submit comments to be considered in the selection of the preferred alternative.
The three alternatives for the future of the dam include:
Alternative 1: Do Nothing
The dam will be kept in its current condition.
Alternative 2: Free-flowing River
The dam will be decommissioned so it will not provide a water retention function. The top deck could be converted to a viewing platform.
Alternative 3: Reinstate the Dam
The dam will be repaired or reconstructed.
Drop in between 4 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18 to the London Public Library, Central Branch (251 Dundas St.) or between 4 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 19 to Goodwill Industries (255 Horton St.). The two sessions will both provide the same content and be presented in open-house type formats.
Materials and opportunity to complete a feedback survey will be available at https://getinvolved.london.ca/OneRiver following the PICs.
