In response to a diesel fuel spill, cleanup work is currently underway at a storm sewer outlet, southeast of the Blackfriars Bridge. Diesel fuel from a garbage truck has entered the storm sewer system and a small portion of which has reached the Thames River.
The spill was identified early and has been contained. A spills response contractor along with the City’s Sewer Operations team is on site. The majority of the material has been contained and is currently being removed.
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation & Parks is working with the City and spills response contractor to address the issue.
There are no health risks to the public.
