The City of London’s 2019 Urban Design Awards

The 2019 Urban Design Awards will be awarded November 7, 2019 at Museum London, and are the City of London’s chance to recognize and celebrate original design, innovative concepts and visionary thinking in the field of urban planning.

Emphasizing the importance of outstanding urban design is important in establishing a city environment that is creative, engaging and attractive. A Creative City concept helps to attract people to London through high quality city building. The Urban Design Awards are also intended to inspire developers, architects, landscape architects, planners and designers to advance excellence in their own projects in pursuit of community recognition and appreciation.

The Urban Design Awards include the following categories: Buildings; Buildings (Small-Scale Residential); Public Realm Enhancements; Public Spaces and Landscapes; and Large Places and Neighbourhoods.

New this Year

People’s Choice Award

Starting October 1, 2019, Londoners will have a chance to vote for their favourite entry in the new “People’s Choice Award” category.

The 2019 submissions from all categories (buildings, buildings (small scale residential), public realm enhancements, public spaces and landscapes, large places and neighbourhoods, and adaptive use or rehabilitation) will be eligible to win the People’s Choice Award.

The public can cast their vote for their favourite entry by visiting is open until October 30, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.  The winner of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the London Urban Design Awards event on November 7, 2019 at Museum London. 

City Building Week

This year, the City of London is hosting City Building Week November 4 – 9, 2019 in order to raise awareness of the importance of City Planning in our community, and to celebrate World Town Planning Day (November 8, 2019). City Planning will be hosting a variety of exciting events throughout the week. More information will be distributed closer to event week.
