maintenance. If you don't see your question listed here, please e-mail or phone
us at the contact information listed at the end of the FAQ's.
Why is my sidewalk being repaired?
In a typical summer, City crews inspect over 1400 kilometres of sidewalk in the
city, looking for deficiencies. Sections in front of your residence/business have been
identified as needing repairs.
How long will it take?
Typically the repairs should be completed from start to finish in 5-7
business days. Weather and other unforeseen concerns may delay the replacement.
What is being fixed?
Portions of the sidewalk identified by our crews as being high priority hazards.
These repairs are spot repairs, not intended to address aesthetic concerns or to
replace entire lengths of sidewalks.
I have cracks in my sidewalk that were not fixed, how come?
Minor cracking, rough surfaces and low laying sidewalks are not part
of this project.
Why wasn’t I told about this before?
This type of repair work is relatively minor and can usually be completed with
minimal disruption. This summer the City has initiated a pilot project using
lawn signs as a method for communicating sidewalk replacement work. Under the
existing City policy, maintenance work does not require any public notification.
What do I need to do?
Once the top soil has been replaced crews will restore the lawn. A light watering of these areas will ensure the grass comes
in thick and lush. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated as we
work towards improving the entire sidewalk system in the City of London.
