About Us

The Development Approvals Business Unit brings together all development related business functions under a single unit built on a service-based functionality.  Our goal is to deliver efficient, sustainable development approvals through process transparency, clear policy and managed growth.  DABU strives to offer improved client service to both the industry and staff in other departments of the City by providing a single point of contact for applicants and proactive file management; end-to-end ownership of the process; and schedule consistency,

PLANNING

Staffed by two integrated teams, the Development Planning Group is equipped with the expertise to carry your appli9cation through the process from beginning to end.
  • Custodians of the Development Approval Process
  • Process Subdivision, Site Plan, Vacant Land Condo & Consent applications from beginning to end.
  • Meeting the requirements of the Planning and Condominium Acts
  • Address Legal Issues & Represent City at Board Hearings

FINANCE

Bringing together finance and engineering staff, the Development Finance Group provides coordinated management of development related finance issues including securities, assumptions, DC claims and DC master planning.

RESOURCE & POLICY

This group is working to review, refine and document development processes and policies, provides liaison between DABU and other City departments and maintains the City's GMIS.
