City of Champions welcomes home our London Knights
The City of London will throw a huge “Welcome Home” party Monday for The London
Knights to celebrate their great Memorial Cup tournament as well as their
Ontario Hockey League championship this season.
Mayor Joe Fontana and council members will officially welcome the team at a
City Hall reception at 4 p.m. Monday.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. the team will depart City Hall in open air
vehicles and lead a parade south on Wellington to Dundas, west on Dundas to
Talbot and arrive at Covent Garden Market around 4:30 p.m. for a massive public
welcome home event.
All Londoners are encouraged to come out and show their support and
appreciation for their championship team.
“What a year this has been for London with our winning sports teams and what a
season this has been for our Knights,” said Mayor Fontana. “This team of young
players, exceptional young players - the coaches and staff have brought us to
our feet time and time again. The rafters in the John Labatt Centre may still be
ringing. I am so very proud to congratulate them on the outstanding season and
all the wins. Your city is behind you and your fans are crazy about you. We will
be rolling out the red carpet on Monday for a great team and a group of amazing
and talented young men. Go Knights Go.”
