Museums & Historic Sites

Links to local museums and historic sites that tell the rich cultural and social history our community are found at the London Heritage Council website.

For example, the Museum of Ontario Archaeology includes a prehistoric Iroquoian village and presents displays and artifacts spanning 11,000 years of the province's southwestern region. At  Eldon House, you can explore London's oldest residence. Virtually unchanged since the 19th century, this historic home contains family heirlooms and furnishings as well as a re-created heritage garden. You can take a step back to gracious living early in the 20th century at the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate and its surrounding 68 acres of beautifully maintained park land.

The "birthplace of insulin" is a national historic site.

Banting House National Historic Site introduces visitors to the "birthplace of insulin." The site celebrates not only a great discovery for the world but also the life and career of a truly distinguished Canadian - Sir Frederick Banting.

Sites such as The Secrets of Radar Museum and The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame provide glimpses into more contemporary chapters of the history of the Forest City and our country.
