Health Care

In this section you will find medical or other health-related services that can help you and/or your family maximize your health and well-being.

London's enviable reputation as a leader in both health care and research includes being the locale of significant medical firsts. Among the recent examples are MRI (magnetic resonance image) and robot-assisted surgery.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care website provides a number of resources which allow you to explore the different health care choices available in your community. For any questions on the Health Care Options Program, please call 1-866-330-6206. (Toll-free in Ontario only)

Find the health care location nearest you

Your Health Care Options Medical Services directory is a user-friendly searchable database of walk-in and after hours clinics, urgent care centres and family health care providers.

Help in finding family doctors
accepting new patients

In February 2009, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care launched Health Care Connect to help Ontarians without a family health care provider find one. The program refers people without a regular family health care provider to physicians and nurse practitioners who are accepting new patients in their community.

If you don’t have a provider you can register for the Health Care Connect program by calling 1-800-445-1822. Telephone services will be available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in English and French with 120 other languages available, as required.

By registering with Health Care Connect, you will be assigned a Care Connector to help you find family health care in your community.

Also, the London and District Academy of Medicine website provides a listing of physicians in London and the surrounding area who are accepting new patients - go to the "Find a Doctor" section.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

The "Doctor Search" function of The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) was discontinued June 4, 2009. The Finding a new doctor section of the website now references the Health Care Connect program. A listing of all family doctors in London may be obtained through the website - the CPSO advises that this can be helpful to anyone interested in contacting physicians in locations close to work or home to see if new patients are being accepted.
