Open Air Burning By-Law Ban
June 16, 2011
London Fire Department Issues a Ban on Open
Burning Within the City of London
Beginning July 16, 2011 until further notice the City of London Fire Department,
under the direction of the Fire Chief, issues a ban on all Open Burns contained
under the Open Air Burning By-Law within the City of London boundaries.
Due to the continuing extremely dry weather conditions, the risk of fire spread
has been elevated in the South Western Ontario Region. The Ministry of Natural
Resources is concerned about the dry conditions within the southwestern region
and the lack of significant rainfall to reduce those dry conditions.
All Open Air Burns are banned under the By-law.
Should London receive the predicted rainfall of approximately 25
mm's for Wednesday night and Thursday, the ban will likely be lifted.
Notice that the ban will be lifted will be posted on the website.
