Role of School Board Trustee

The Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAH) has put together a number of documents and presentations outlining the role of elected officials. These guides are intended to provide an overview of the many duties and challenges elected officials at the municipal level face.

• Is a member of a team (the board);
• The community’s advocate for public education;
• Responsible for establishing policy direction;
• To participate in making decisions that benefit the whole board while representing the interests of constituents
