Easements

For questions regarding easements including encroachments in new (unassumed) subdivisions, please contact Development Services at (519) 661-2500 x4905. For all other easement related questions please contact the at (519) 661-2500 x4908.

Please be advised that as of January 1st, 2006, the City has adopted a new standard form of easement for municipal services commonly referred to as the Combined Services Easement which covers all types of municipal owned services including sanitary and storm sewers, watermains, electrical and communications cables and conduits. (Please note this does not include electrical infrastructure owned by London Hydro.) From this date forward only the Combined Services Easement standard is to be used. In accordance with City Policy and to comply with Ministry of Consumer and Business Services Registration Division Title and Survey Services Office Bulletin 2005-02 and Memorandum EM 2005-03, all easements transferred to the City of London must be in conveyed as easements in Gross.

Road Widening Transfers

For information on how to transfer road widenings to the City as required by Development Agreements, Consents or Servicing Agreements (i.e. transfers without compensation), please click here. Road widening purchases or expropriations are done by the City's Legal Department through Realty Services. Please direct any questions to Realty Services at (519) 661-2500 x5442 and the Legal Department at (519) 661-2500 x4940.
