Digital Mapping Disc
Upon written request only the City will provide a digital mapping disk for
the cost $282.50 ($250.00 plus
$32.50 HST). The disc contains topographic mapping and related files
in either AutoCAD DWG format or ESRI Shape file format.
The contents of the disk are listed below. All files are referenced to the City's NAD'83
(Original) 6 degree UTM coordinate
system and are provided at UTM grid projection scale. Depending on the version ordered you
will either need a program capable of reading AutoCAD 2010 DWG files or ESRI
Shape Files in order to read the data.

Consultants working under contract with the City are expected to use the most
recent mapping data and can acquire the mapping disc at
no cost. Eligible Consultants must submit
the request for the digital information in writing as noted below even when requesting
an update. The letter must reference the project and identify the City's
project manager for verification.
Government and educational institutions can acquire the mapping disc for no
cost provided they submit the request in writing in the approved form (see
below).
The current (2012) Mapping disc contains the following information:
- Colour Digital Orthoimagery of the City contained in one "SID"
MG3 file and a "SID" world file. The orthoimagery is provided at 15 cm pixel resolution
with a 50:1 compression ratio. In order to use the orthoimagery the user must
download a "MrSID" viewer or an appropriate plug-in extension
for their particular software program. The orthoimagery is based on April 2012 aerial
photography.
- 1:2000 topographic vector mapping in AutoCAD
2010 DWG format in 135 2km square tiles. Each tile contains two files, one
containing the 2D planimmetry and the second containing 3D contours and spot
elevations. A grid index file and a street name file is provided for
reference. The topographic information included is essentially identical to
the City's original 1:2000 Ontario Base Mapping and is based on April 2012
aerial photography.
- Single line street map is contained in a single AutoCAD
2010 DWG file. This map was last revised August 2012.
- Double line street map with street index is contained in
three AutoCAD 2010 DWG files. This map was last revised September 2012.
- Assessment Parcel Mapping for the City in a single AutoCAD
2010 DWG file. This file was last updated August 2012
HTML help files are also included to assist
the user.
Upon request, the City can also provide the Single Line street map, 1:2000
vector mapping (in themes), and Assessment Parcel Mapping in ESRI
Shape File format.
To order a disc the end user must submit a written request in
this
format. In the case of a business, this
request should be on corporate letterhead stationery. Requests from the end
user's agent or consultant are not acceptable and will not be processed. The City
considers the end user to be the person or entity which retains the copyright to
the product for which the mapping data is needed. The letter must explain how the
information is to be used, it being noted that mapping cannot be used in commercial
products or otherwise redistributed without the express permission of the
Corporation of the City of
London.
A letter in the approved form together with a non-post dated cheque made payable to "Treasurer
- City of London" should be forwarded to:

The disc (DVD format) will only be shipped after the request has been approved and payment has
been received. Prepayment is required. The disc will be mailed unless other
arrangements are made at the customer's expense.
Defective discs will be replaced at no charge only after being first returned
to the above address. Refunds will not be provided.
The mapping is only provided under
the following terms:
- Limited licence grant. The Corporation of the City of London
grants to the "Licensee" a non-exclusive, non-transferable limited licence to
use the mapping data without fee. Licensee may make copies and distribute complete,
unmodified copies of the mapping data within the Licensee's organization
only.
- Restrictions. The mapping data is copyrighted information
of The Corporation of the City of London. The mapping data may not be sold,
leased or assigned in whole or in part. The mapping data cannot be used in commercial
products without the express permission of the City of London and it must not
be used or posted on an external website.
- No warranty. The mapping data is provided "as is" without
warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including but not limited
to the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
The Corporation of the City of London assumes no liability for any alleged or
actual, incidental or consequential damages resulting from the furnishing, performance
or use of this mapping data.
