Facilities Maintenance Division
Who we are
The purpose of the Facilities Maintenance Division is to maintain the environmental and physical
facilities of the City of London. We provide building maintenance, custodial services and utilities.
What we do
Facilities Maintenance provides for the overall management and administration of over 200 municipal building and properties. We also provide the administration of service contracts for various facility maintenance disciplines. This diverse grouping of facilities serve and accommodate the needs of City of London's civic departments, divisions, members of the public and elected officials.
In addition to supplying facilities maintenance to the city's civic department, Facilities Services provides similar services to other public agencies such as Tourism London,
London Fire Services and the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
Our well equipped carpenter shop can design and fabricate custom mill work, such as a made to fit wall storage unit, cabinet or storage shed
and many other items that meet the customer's unique requirements.
Why we do it
To ensure City of London citizens, employees, elected officials and visitors have safe, comfortable and efficient facilities in which to carry out civic activities.

Cleaning
We have a great deal of pride in keeping our municipal buildings properly maintained and just as much pride in ensuring these buildings are kept clean and neat. The majority of cleaning is performed during the off hours so as to not disrupt the building occupants. This often overlooked task plays a key role in ensuring our municipal buildings are both safe and esthetically pleasing. This service is taken very seriously by our building management and front line staff and we believe it reflects in the quality of building appearance we have in place
Meeting Room Setup
Setting up meeting rooms at City Hall is performed by the frontline staff in this group. As you would expect, a wide variety of daily meetings and the periodic ceremonial or special function are held inside City Hall. To ensure these rooms have everything needed, Facilities Maintenance and Technology Services Divisions work closely with the requestor and follow a well established City Hall meeting room(s) and/or audio visual equipment set ups procedure.

The purpose of the Utilities group is to provide appropriate funding for utilities such as electricity, water, natural gas, chilled water, steam, furnace oil and propane, for over 225 Municipality owned facilities.
Monitors energy savings and administer payments to the "retrofit" contractor through the energy consumption savings programs.
Provides facility users with energy budget information on anticipated facility use changes such as; building expansions or extending the hours of building use.
With the cost of energy sky rocketing in recent years, an even greater focus will be given towards improving our past energy conservation initiatives. The facilities group is leading the way towards a corporate energy conservations initiative that will include all Civic Departments as well as City of London boards and commissions. A Corporate Energy Management report received by Board of Control in 2005 has provided administration the authority to develop a comprehensive corporate energy management program on behalf of the City and its client Boards and Commissions.
