Councillor Jared Zaifman

Ward 14

About Jared

Jared Zaifman was born, raised, and educated right here in London, Ontario. He has also spent much of his life working for organizations and community groups in London. During his undergraduate career at Western, Jared was actively involved in campus life including spending 3 years as a volunteer for Foot Patrol, as well as serving on Western's University Students Council. After graduating in 2008 Jared began working for his family’s business, Z Group learning a good deal about business, development, and the planning process. Z Group was started by Jared's grandparents who survived the horrors of the holocaust to come to Canada with nothing and made a life for themselves.  These humble roots have taught Jared the importance of passion, dedication, perseverance, and community.

Jared’s passion did not lie with development though, in 2011 he returned to Western to complete his Masters of Public Administration in Local Government. He then set about putting his education into action, working for the City of Stratford for over a year, in the offices of the Mayor, the Economic Development Officer, and the Chief Administrative Officer. Various projects he led included job fairs, regional transit initiatives, and community town halls in efforts to boost the Stratford economy. This hands-on experience provided Jared with an up-close view of how to attract jobs and industry to a community.

Jared has always been very involved in his community. Some of his volunteer initiatives include the London Military Families Resources Board, the United Way Youth Committee, the London Committee of Adjustment, and the Covent Garden Market Board of Directors.

Jared most recently has worked for the Parkinson's Society of Ontario, and subsequently worked teaching at Fanshawe College. After a year in office, Jared found that to be able to fulfill the role of Councillor to the best of his ability and to meet the needs of his constituents, he has made council his primary focus.
